How The Rodski Cup Started...

In the year 2008, it all began as a idea in the back of Kenny "Scoops" Incontro's mind. So one night after league play, Kenny decided to voice his idea to some of his fellow players at a local watering hole. He said to them, "How much fun would it be to challenge the Shooter McGavin league to a Ryder Cup type event?". The idea was hatched, a challenge was sent to the Shooter McGavin league and promptly accepted, at that moment the "Kenny Cup" was born. The Shooter McGavin league was an obvious choice as it was a spin-off from the Tye Webb league in the late '90s and there has been plenty of trash talk between the two leagues ever since. In 2009 the format for the competition was defined and a score keeping system was developed to track an individual's performance throughout the year. Tye Webbers had a new incentive... they could now compete to represent their league, their brethren, in a momentous event, the "Kenny Cup".

In the years since, the Kenny Cup competition has been fierce. The Tye Webb league captured the first two Cups in 2009 and 2010. The Shooter McGavin league geared up in 2011 and took the Cup from the Tye Webbers. As is usual in this competition, the competitors came together around the green of the final hole to share their stories of triumph and misery. It was at this time during the 2011 Kenny Cup, that both sides agreed to rename the competition to the "Rodski Cup" in honor of their fallen brother, Rod Baumgart.

Rod was a great person and friend and is sorely missed. It's in honor of Rod that we get together for one day in the fall to compete for the "Rodski Cup".
